Getting started

Open the app. The first time on each device, you activate it:
- enter your name and email address and check the box;
- copy the 6-digit authorization number we email you into the app.
Plug an OBD-II adapter into the car’s diagnostic port, usually under the dashboard near the steering column. Turn the ignition on, then tap Connect Adapter.
No adapter yet? The app’s Connect Adapter screen shows which kind works with your device and where to buy one.

Which adapter works?

Your device	Works with
iPhone / iPad	Bluetooth LE (“BLE”, “Bluetooth 4.0”) or Wi-Fi adapters
Android	Bluetooth LE, classic Bluetooth or Wi-Fi adapters
Computer (Chrome / Edge)	Bluetooth LE or USB cable adapters

Classic-Bluetooth ELM327 adapters do not work with iPhone.

Common questions

I didn’t get the authorization email.

Check your spam or junk folder.
Wait a minute, then tap Send a New Number. The number expires after 15 minutes.
Check the address for typos, using Change Email.

The app asks me to activate again. This happens after reinstalling, clearing the app’s data, using a new device, or when the User Agreement changes.

The app can’t find my adapter.

Make sure the ignition is on.
Make sure the adapter’s light is on.
For Bluetooth, allow the app’s Bluetooth permission.
For Wi-Fi adapters, join the adapter’s Wi-Fi network first.

Is this an official smog check? No. Smog Predict is a readiness pre-check, not an official inspection, and Used Car Check does not replace a mechanic’s inspection or a vehicle-history report. See the User Agreement.

To access or delete your activation record, email us from the address you activated with.

Opting out of arbitration

To opt out of arbitration (User Agreement, Section 12.5), email tourguidllc@gmail.com within 30 days of first accepting the Agreement. Give your name, your email address, and a clear statement that you opt out of arbitration.
